Financial Results of the 92 English Football League Clubs 2024/25

English Football League Financial Results, all Divisions.

This analysis presents the consolidated financial results of the four English leagues for the 2024/25 season across five measures. Turnover represents income generated from a club’s core operations, excluding player transfer income. The main revenue sources are matchday income (ticket sales), broadcasting and central distributions (including Premier League, EFL and UEFA distributions), and commercial income. Staff costs include salaries and wages paid to all employees, amortisation of player transfer fees (the spreading of a player’s acquisition cost over the length of their contract), and impairment charges where a player’s estimated market value falls below their book value. It excludes profits from player sales. Profit / (loss) before tax represents total revenue less total costs, before taxation. The figures exclude one-off gains arising from asset sales to related group entities (for example, the sale of a women’s team) and loan waivers recognised as profit. Such asset sales and loan waivers are identified separately. Football debt includes third-party loans, loans from owners or related entities, and outstanding transfer fees owed to other clubs, net of transfer fees receivable. The total is offset by cash reserves and loans receivable. New finance represents new loans or equity funding raised during the year. This figure can be negative where debt repayments exceed new funding raised during the period. Notes: Five clubs in League One and 11 clubs in League Two report under the small companies' regime and do not separately disclose turnover and staff costs. In some cases, estimates have been included. Three clubs — Sheffield Wednesday (in administration), Morecambe and Milton Keynes Dons — had not yet submitted accounts for 2024/25 at the time of publication. Estimates based on prior-year figures have been included. Comparisons between years are impacted by the mix of clubs, particularly in the lower leagues. For example Birmingham and Wrexham lifted the turnover (and costs) for season 2024/25 in League One. Club Summaries The following are club summaries for each division for season 2024/25.
